We increased radius on corners and high stress points to improve the structural strength.

That allowed us to reduce material in regions of no stress to improve weight and handling

Generative Computer Aided Design was used to determine the tensioner’s optimal shape by allowing the computer to self-design the tensioner based on the forces present. The resulting shape was then used to guide the improvements for the final design.

A triangular mesh was then created to prepare for the analysis of the tensioner’s high stress points. Identifying the locations of high stress to increase material where the stress points are high and reduce material in locations where it’s not needed.

A Finite Element Analysis was conducted on the mesh to determine if the stress points of each subsequent design was within the limits based on the 'Von Mises' Stress Criteria.
